Online User’s Guide
Hi,
Please read the following instructions.
Focus on the icons placed on the left side of your screen to see the visual effects. Thank you.
Pages:
Home page - Gives an idea of the contents of the web site. Has links to all other pages.
Freshmen page - Displays a calendar and allows the user to view schedules/appointments for the year 2002.
Junior page - Displays a emotion-emoticon matching-pair game and few acronyms.
Senior page - Provides links to few online greetings.
User's_guide page (Current page!) - Serves as an online help/user quick note to users - to know
more about the web page functionality and design. This page can be accessed from any page included in
the 'CIS student Lifecycle' web site.
Interface Features:
Color, graphics, images, animation, sound, mouse actions, links.
Navigation Handles:
Graphical buttons displayed below the page titles. Facilitates rapid traversal to all other pages.
Hyper Text Links:
Embedded text/image items allow users to jump from one page to another.
Common elements used in the web pages:
All pages have unique background picture/sound and Dynamic HTML effects.
Page
transition: Has a special effect while displaying the pages. (This feature
works only in Internet Explorer 4.0+).
Alternative text is provided for images used in the pages. This can be of much
use for people with text-only browsers and for people with color blindness.
Has
common headers & footers. All headers have graphical navigation handles.

In the header:
Links to user's_guide.htm when clicked. Shows a different picture when focused!
In the footer:
Sends email to the author of this web site.
Provides a link to the home page.
Displays a friendly holiday wishes message!
Provides brief instructions on how to access the current page.
Takes the cursor to the top of the current page.

note on features only used in the Home page:
The main title for the web site.
Introductory message from the author of the site.
Links to other pages of the site. For instance, clicking
takes the user to the junior page.
Quick note on
features only used in the Freshmen page:
Displays a 12 month calendar. This serves as an online appointment book. An
underlined date indicates that there is a message stored for the user. To view
the message on the textarea (provided below each month), one must select a
desired underlined date. Note: The color of the date changes based on user's
action! For instance,
1 indicates that the date
has not yet been selected by the user
1 indicates
current
user's choice - currently active
1 indicates that the date
has already been selected by the user
Quick note on features only used in the Junior page:
The main focus of this page is to display an 'emoticon-emotions' matching pair
game. To start with, the user starts the timer by clicking the clock icon
and then starts choosing the appropriate emoticon-emotion pair. To time
out the game, the user can again click the clock icon, placed in the last row of
the table. This process fills in the text box with the information on the time
taken by the user to play the game. Below the emoticons are hidden solutions
that can be revealed by double clicking the smiley face images.
